Ministry – Dark Side Of The Spoon

Review# 286

Dark Side Of The Spoon is an album lacking a lot of the zest and zeal typical of a Ministry record. Its not all bad, but it is borderline boring at times. From what I understand this was recorded at a low point for front man Al Jourgensen and that really comes across. All the album needs is a bit of fire in it and that would really change up the whole thing. But tracks like Bad Blood, Supermanic Soul and Whip And Chain are all pretty good, the first half is really. The sound on the album really isn't as good as on most other Ministry albums either. The name is either a parody of Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon, or a reference to the burnt and blackened side of a spoon used to dissolve heroin (the band suffered form heroin abuse at the time).
