The actual music on this album is incredible. The lyrics are kind of where it falls apart. It’s at the beginning of Zappa’s phase of sing ‘wee-wee, poo-poo’ lyrics and then criticise most other rock stars for their lack of intelligence. There are a few brighter moments on the album, particularly Cosmik Debris.
The music has some elements even jazzier than those on Hot Rats etc. Overall while the lyrics might make you chuckle occasionally if you can’t get into the music it’s probably not for you. In fact if you can’t get into the music I’m not sure Zappa is for you full stop.
