I’m not sure if I’ve heard this too many times or what. There’s nothing wrong with it, and plenty that’s right about it but it doesn’t have the same experimental edge that most of the other albums do. The album is about the causes of insanity: fear of death, worship of money, time running out etc. It’s better focused around it’s concept than Meddle is and I guess that makes it a better talking point. The music’s obviously great, Rick Wright’s work on the album stood out a lot more for me on this listen actually.
It’s a classic, nothing I can say will ever take anything away from that. I just prefer some of the earlier works with a sharper experimental edge.
