I’m not exactly sure of my opinion of this album. It’s enjoyable enough, if kind of naive. I can fully understand the perspective of those who think it’s slapped together and inconsistent. Less than half the album is comprised of real songs and of those only a couple feel really fleshed out. I guess that’s part of the appeal, it’s very raw. Normally I like this kind of thing but I can’t escape the feeling that this is a single with a whole bunch of bonus tracks. The singles sides? Maybe I’m Amazed/Every Night. As much as I like That Would Be Something it’s basically Paul practising his Elvis impression for two thirds of the song.
