Bob Dylan - Modern Times

You’d think the idea of Dylan simply rewriting traditional blues songs would be boring, at least when it’s put so bluntly. Turns out he admits to have been doing this his whole career, this is just his most honest tribute to the music of his youth.

This is a great album. I never paid it much attention because coming off the back of Time Out of Mind and Love and Theft it’s was hard to find much that was as good as Mississippi or Love Sick. While I always liked the more introspective sound of Workingmans Blues and Nettie Moore it wasn’t until hearing this band play some bluesier versions of Highway 61 material that I got an appreciation for this era of the Dylan catalogue. This is a REALLY good blues band, one just has to listen to this alum with that in mind.
