Emperor - Prometheus: The Discipline Of Fire & Demise

Review# 93 Prometheus is a fantastic example of blending light and dark elements. The album opens to the sound of harpsichord and violin setting a renaissance sound, this feel flows through the album and add the majestic "light" feel which is offset by Ihsahn's majestic "dark" vocals as well as the rhythm of the drums and bass. The guitars tend to swap sides from time to time and bring the whole thing together. The album has a very grandiose-ness to it - it would be amount those albums that would easily transfer to a setting with an orchestra behind them. A quick note on the packaging too - if possible get the edition that comes in a little box and the cd is designed to look like a vinyl, it is a very satisfying piece to own purely for aesthetics but the only extra content is a high definition video of Empty. Still I think it's worth it.
