Bloodbath - Nightmares Made Flesh

Review# 79

Bloodbath are a Death metal supergroup featuring members of Kataonia, Opeth, Hypocrisy etc. On this album singer Mikael Akerfeldt left to free up more time for Opeth and was replaced by Peter Tagtgren of Hypocrisy.
This is a most enjoyable album, it has great pace and really sounds like the band is having fun, which to be fair is part of the whole idea of Bloodbath. The songs are surprisingly catchy, who would have thought a song titled Cancer Of The Soul could be catchy? Thematically the songs range from standard Death metal themes like death and religion but also, as quoted by Mikael at Bloodstock last year, songs about cooking... The track Eaten is based on that German fellow who ate the other German fellow. Bloody great song that too!
There is a really great attitude on this album and it really is a great homage to the original Swedish Death metal scene.
