Clutch – Clutch

Review# 69

Clutch's self titled album is a fantastically laid back Bluesy Rock album. There are some great catchy tunes on here like Big News I, Texan Book Of The Dead and Escape From The Prison Planet. This is one of my favourite lazy Sunday in the sun albums, it's just super cruisey. Clutch have a fantastic sound and merge Rock and Blues together really well creating a brilliant grimy sound. Neil Fallon's gravely vocals add perfectly to the over all sound and experience.

Clutch is a fun album, some of the lyrics are nonsense but somehow manage to work well in the context of the song e.g. in Rock & Roll Outlaw there are lines about the "weeble wobble" and half of Texan Book Of The Dead seems to be bits from children's songs! But somehow they just work.

Enjoy!
