Emigrate – Emigrate

Review# 62

Emigrate is the first (and currently only) album by Emigrate which is the side project of Rammstein guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe, the opening track is also called Emigrate. Sorted? Good.
I really like this album, not only was it a great way to fill in the gap between Rammstein albums but it has some bloody good tracks on it.
The sound shares some similar qualities to the machine that is Rammstein but that is mostly in Richard's guitar sound as opposed to any particular style as this is far more Rock orientated. Emigrate is much less ridged too, Richard has drawn on the differences between his German culture and his new home in New York which he references in New York City and in Emigrate.
While there are a few “Ballady” tracks on here they are mostly well composed and have a good sound without a freakish amount of soppy-ness even if I don't usually listen to them I can at least appreciate them! The harder Rock tracks are well banging, My World was on the Resident Evil: Extinction soundtrack, Resolution plays around with some interesting Middle-Eastern sounds and Emigrate, Wake Up and New York City are just stompers. I really like This Is What, it is probably the most Industrial song on the album and sticks out as the most adventurous track on the album.
