DevilDriver – DevilDriver

Review# 66

DevilDriver is the debut album by DevilDriver... The band. Initially they were not really given the credit they were due mostly due to main-man Dez Fafara's previous project being Nu-Metal band Coal Chamber, while this album is nowhere near the quality of literally everything DevilDriver will do after it still made the nay-Sayers, at least, realise that this is not a band to mess with - especially after seeing the intense shows they put on (a couple of yeas ago they invited the Guinness world records people to a Download show to see if they could set the record for biggest circle pit, unfortunately there was no way to measure it accurately).
There are still some Nu-Metal moments here like I Dreamed I Died, but on the whole there is a much more grown up sound starting to come through. DevilDriver still isn't as interesting or catchy as follow up album The Fury Of Our Makers Hand and onwards but it is a good start to their sound and a reasonable start to their career as DevilDriver.
