Beethoven - Symphony #6 "Pastoral"

Review# 126

Another study from music class, this time from sixth form music I believe. This is a wonderful piece of music that truly amazes me how it was composed with such subtle texture by someone who had already lost most of his hearing.
The first movement, titled by Beethoven "Awakening of cheerful feelings upon arrival in the country", is one of favorite parts. The fantastic way that he has scored the music so that the piccolo, clarinet, oboe etc sound reminiscent of birds is great. All of the movements sound exactly like what you would expect; Scene at the brook, Happy gathering of country folk, Thunderstorm, Shepherds' song; cheerful and thankful feelings after the storm.
It's a nice piece, a little at odds with Wellington at 6:30am but still a nice expressive piece.
