Opeth – Watershed

Review# 154

I didn't really feel Watershed the first time around. Nor really the second or third time. I really felt like I had brought a dud, especially after the awesomeness of Ghost Reveries. So it inevitably got shelved and only brought out and dusted off for review purposes. I must say that while I personally still don't dig it as much as Ghost Reveries I am finding I enjoy it a lot more than when it was first released. I still prefer the heavier moments like The Lotus Eater, but I now find it a much more cohesive album. I am not sure if it's an album that gets better as it ages or if I have just become (slightly) less of a musical snob as I have aged. Probably the latter.
As always the music and vocals are impeccable with a strong lean toward the Prog side of things which I try not to let me get put off the whole thing. Definitely worth a spin if Proggy Death Metaly stuff interests you.
