American Head Charge – The Feeding

Review#33

Man how I used to thrash this album! This is another one of the albums that I thrashed so much when it came out 6 years ago and then ended up as a dust gatherer. I still love the opening track Loyalty, it is a great piece of aggression especially for my 20 year old self.
This is the 3rd and final album by the band, disbanding in 2009 due to issues with singer Cameron Heacock. AHC had struggled with drug abuse prior to this album too, with every band member having their own drug issues and guitarist Bryan Ottoson almost being checked into a mental facility for fear of suicide. Bryan was found dead on his bunk in 2005 just before a show, it was concluded he died of an accidental prescription drug overdose.

I must admit I had forgotten how good this album is. There is rage and sadness here, Ridicule is a perfect example of this. Pledge Allegiance and Loyalty have an aggressive punch the whole way through as well as Take What I've Taken. There is a sarcastic and disillusioned feel too that comes across in a lot of the tracks, it is a rather raw piece of work.
