Review# 37
Sitting here thinking “fuck I am exhausted, what the hell am I going to listen to without falling asleep?” and well the answer is probably a lot of things but the Mad Caps stand out in this particular instance as I wanted lots of energy, something crazy and different. Check to all of the above. From the opening track Tribe you get a good solid dose of energy. This Japanese trio fuse electro with punk with metal with industrial with hardcore and adding here and there touches of ska and drum and bass. For the most part the album is frantic and intense and shows a diverse interest and experimentation.
This was the album that really got the Mad Caps recognised outside of Japan with the single Pulse appearing on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3. It is not really hard to see why The Mad Caps were the kings of the J-Rock scene before disbanding in 2005, they have a bit of everything in them and are more approachable than a large portion of the scene. I find it hard to pick favourite tracks as there are a lot of good tracks here so here are a few(lots) if you care to view:
