A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory

I don’t know much about hip-hop so I’ll keep this brief. I came across this album because it sampled jazz and had second quintet Miles bassist Ron Carter featured prominently. The album sounds really cool. Obviously the low end is inflated, but the basslines themselves are pretty excellent. Rap is basically about who can say the best things, on that front the album doesn’t quite deliver, the lyrics are pretty braindead most of the time. Actually that’s kind of harsh, but they aren’t exactly interesting outside of being vessels for some interesting rhythm.
