Rammstein - Liebe Ist Für Alle Da

Review# 22

Rammstein have been known for stirring up controversy from day 1 but this was the the first album to actually be completely banned and censored in their home country Germany. So essentially, first off the album was added to the Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young Persons Index which meant that the album could not be sold to minors nor displayed where it could be seen by under-age people so that essentially banned it from stores. Then the artwork of lead guitarist Richard Kruspe with a chubby woman wearing only a mask bent over his knee and his hand poised to strike her bottom caused offence (Sam has a tshirt with that on it, it's a great piece of art!) then the lyrics to Ich Tu Dir Weh caused more offence as it supposedly spread ideas about dangerous domination techniques. And then the song Pussy gave offence as it supposedly told people have have lots of unprotected sex... Though the hard core porn video may have assisted with that too! So the album was completely censored. Flake (keys) has stated that he is regretted the boards apparent inability to detect irony. The band released a censored version and eventually the whole thing was revoked and wiped off the censors, Rammstein re-released the uncensored version and released Ich Tu Dir Weh as a single. Good work team!

Now for the album. Wow, after Rosenrot I have to admit I was a tad worried about this album but man I did not need to worry! From stomping tracks like Ich Tu Dir Weh, Waidmanns Heil to the “fun” songs like Pussy and Haifisch and the epic opening of Rammlied. In true Rammstein fashionnnn Wiener Blut is a song about Josef Fritzl and B******** (Buckstabu) is a made up word to mean whatever you like. The only track that I am not overly fond of is the final track Roter Sand, while in recent albums, they have finished with a “ballad” it just doesn't seem to fit. Frühling In Paris is a better ballad type song and sits well in the middle of the album as a nice little interlude.
Overall this album is great and is full of kick-arse tracks but most of the ones on you tube are fucky due to Rammstein's management pulling most stuff with good quality!
