Himsa – Summon In Thunder

Review# 32

Today Sam has picked an album for me to review so he picked this one as he really likes it but I am not so keen on it. This is one of those albums that I picked up cheap in one of Real Groovy's bargain bins. I brought it because I quite like the leading singles Unleash Carnage and Big Timber, I really gave this album a decent amount spins to try and get into it but for whatever reason I just couldn't get into it so I have just left it collecting dust. Listening to it now I am still not 100% sure what it is, it does lean a little to the unoriginal side of things and the mix is pretty muddy with the bass and to a point the drums all blending into one, at least to my munted ears. Although Sam doesn't seem to hear what I mean so maybe it is just me.

Most of the songs are catchy to a degree, and it is not necessarily a bad album but maybe it's just that it's not interesting or exciting enough for me. Even now I am just not sure what it is about this that really does nothing for me. It must be me; Metal Underground gave the album 4.5 (of 5) skulls but also agreed it sounds like parts have been done before but say Himsa do it harder and faster, Tartarean Desire gave an 8.5 out of 10 review and a few random blogs rated it highly also.

So in conclusion it is apparently a good album. I personally don't think it is bad but I don't really find it particularly engaging or catching, on the plus side it is a reasonably aggressive album and and is potentially good for running as it does have a decent bit of pace.
