I honestly don't know if this could be counted as a “Spoof” album... Steel Panther seem dead serious about there music, attitude and the persona's they have created for themselves. One way or another they are doing a decent job of keeping the Glam scene alive, at least they have done a better job than the last Motley Crue album! There is really nothing surprising music wise here, Steel Panther have rolled together all of their favourite Glam Metal acts and made an album, you will find familiar musical sounds and patterns, right down to the ballads. The most surprising aspect is the lyrics, I wont go so far as to say they are good, they are crude and filthy and I would rather play my Nana a Slayer track than Steel Panther song. I don't know where they get the ideas they put into the lyrics and how they even managed to rhyme some of it; “50 Cent's a fag, so is Kanye West Shooting hot sperm on each others' chest” or “So come on pretty baby Suck my balls all night/ I'm hopped on Cialis And you're high as a kite/ I know it tastes infected But I think it's alright/ Oooh, come on pretty baby, suck my balls all night”. Nice. They Do also ask in Death To All But Metal why all the lyrics sound like Dr Seuss? So they I guess they know what they are about...
There are some decent tracks on here and a lot are really catchy, even if you don't want them to be, Asian Hooker or Fat Girl (Thar She Blows) for example, I prefer the rockier tracks like Death To All But Metal, Eyes Of A Panther and Turn Out The Lights. Steel Panther are really a rather talented bunch, musically this is pretty good and in their live sets they do a bunch of different covers every night from a very large knowledge base of classic Rock and Glam Metal history. Have a listen and see if you “Feel The Steel”
