Behemoth – Evangelion

Review# 34

Behemoth are a band that do not like to be labeled, and to be fair they do make it a challenge to label them if you are that way inclined. Evangelion displays the Black metal roots as well as the Death metal sound they have lent toward in latter albums but with a touch of Thrash for good measure. This is an impressive and well thought out album. The tracks are layered and dense, this is not a straight up punch in the face album this is a steam roller slowly rolling over you.
It is hard to pick the best track as it is such a solid album although I am partial to Ov Fire And The Void as this was the first track that I heard from this album and it made me want to buy it.

Behemoth are a band who love their imagery and symbolism which is apparent in their music videos and also in the album artwork which has the Harlot of Babylon (book of revelations) with saints worshipping her and the stone tables of the 10 commandments broken at her feet. Also the word Evangelion is from a Greek word meaning “spreading the word of God” which Behemoth blatantly are not.
This is a short one tonight, watch a video and feel the power of the mighty Behemoth.
